Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use form a binding agreement between you and Mustafa Demir, an individual developer established in the Republic of Türkiye (“we”, “us”), governing your use of the Sherlock Ai mobile application and this website (together, the “Service”).

By installing or using the Service you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. You must be at least 17 years old.

2. What the App does

Sherlock Ai takes a photo you provide and searches an index of publicly available images and web pages for visually similar faces. It returns links to the pages where those images were found, each with a similarity score.

The Service is a search tool, not an identification, background check, or investigation service. It does not tell you who someone is. It is not a consumer reporting agency, and its results must never be used to make decisions about credit, insurance, housing, employment, or any other purpose regulated by the United States Fair Credit Reporting Act or equivalent laws elsewhere.

3. Lawful use is your responsibility

Each time you run a search you confirm that you have the right to submit that photo and that you will use the results lawfully. You are solely responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you, including data protection and biometric privacy laws, which in some jurisdictions require the consent of the person depicted.

Intended uses include checking where your own photos appear online, verifying that a person you are dealing with is who they claim to be, and tracing the source of an image you received.

4. Prohibited uses

You must not use the Service to:

• stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, dox or surveil any person;
• identify or unmask a person who has a reasonable expectation of anonymity, including activists, journalists, survivors of abuse and sex workers;
• submit photos of minors;
• build, sell or contribute to any database of biometric identifiers or face templates;
• make decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or comparable legislation (see section 2);
• violate any person's privacy, publicity, data protection or other rights;
• reverse engineer, decompile, scrape or automate access to the Service, or circumvent its rate limits, credit system or security controls;
• resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties as your own.

We take these limits seriously. Reports of misuse can be sent through the report channel.

5. Results are similarity, not truth

Search results are produced by an automated third-party engine over an index that we do not control and that is necessarily incomplete. You accept that:

• a high score means two images look alike to the engine — it is not proof that they show the same person;
• false matches and missed matches both occur;
• an empty result does not mean a photo is absent from the internet;
• we neither host, control, verify nor endorse the pages linked in results, and their content may be offensive, outdated, or unlawful.

Always open the source and judge it yourself before acting on any result.

6. Credits

• Searches are paid for with credits. One completed search consumes one credit.
• A search that fails, times out, or that you cancel does not consume a credit.
• Credits are a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use a feature of the Service. They are not property, they have no cash value, and they cannot be exchanged, refunded for cash, or transferred between users.
• Credits do not expire while the Service operates, but see section 10.
• Credits are tied to your device identifier, not to an account. Because the Service has no sign-in, credits are recoverable only where that identifier is restored — on iOS it is stored in your iCloud Keychain, so it normally survives reinstalling the App or moving to a new device with the same Apple ID. If you disable iCloud Keychain, switch platforms, or erase the identifier, unused credits cannot be recovered. Deleting your server-side data (Privacy Policy section 9) also destroys them.
• Daily search limits apply to protect the Service from abuse.

7. Subscriptions

Subscriptions grant a recurring allocation of credits. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.

The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the period, at the price of the plan you selected. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings; deleting the App does not cancel it.

Prices may vary by territory and may change. We will give notice in the App before a price change affects a renewal.

8. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled under Apple's policies and at Apple's discretion — we cannot issue them directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Consumers in the European Union have a statutory right of withdrawal for digital content, which is lost once delivery begins with your consent. Credits are delivered immediately on purchase.

If a purchase is refunded or charged back, we may remove the corresponding credits from your balance.

9. Invites and referral credits

The App may award credits when a new user joins using your invite code. These credits are promotional, subject to daily caps, and may be withheld or withdrawn if we detect self-referral, automation, or any other manipulation. We may change or end the programme at any time.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

We provide the Service on an ongoing basis but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features depend on a third-party search provider and may be degraded, suspended or discontinued.

If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the App where possible, and unused credits purchased within the preceding period may be refundable through Apple.

11. Suspension

We may limit, suspend or terminate access — including forfeiting unused credits — where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached, in particular section 4, or where required by law or by our search provider.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy or completeness of results.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your non-waivable statutory consumer rights.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for loss of profits, data, goodwill or reputation, arising from your use of the Service or from any action you take based on its results.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, damage, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service in breach of these Terms or of any applicable law, including claims brought by a person whose photo you submitted.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts of Istanbul have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction whose law grants you the protection of your local mandatory consumer rules and local courts, nothing here deprives you of them.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top of this page will change, and material changes will be notified in the App. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
